Directed by William Beaudine
Written by Carl K. Hittleman.
The Actors: John Lupton (Jesse James), Narda Onyx (Dr. Maria Frankenstein), Cal Bolder (Hank Tracy and Igor),
Estelita Rodriguez (Juanita Lopez), Jim Davis (Marshall MacPhee)
If I followed the exposition correctly during the mad scientist lady's tirades in the first act, she is actually the famed Victor Frankenstein's granddaughter; her father had been a weakling (as described by her) who never went beyond paperwork in his experiments. She and her timid brother have moved from Vienna to this locale, a town in the American Southwest near the Mexican border, so that she could conduct her experiments during the electrical storms which are so prevalent here. Her activity has caused a lot of nervousness among the locals, notably a fiery young Mexican woman. Ms. Frankenstein determines that she needs a live specimen - a big, strong man who can survive the electrical jolt. Jesse James' sidekick (Cal Bolder), built like a bodybuilder, fits the bill. This film is famous for Bolder being shirtless in almost all his scenes and later with a shaved head, also with stitches. He becomes this film's version of the famous monster of Frankenstein, a mindless automaton who may be the first in a superhuman army of obedient servants. Also with Jim Davis as the Marshall (Davis couldn't get away from this stuff - he later had a role in Dracula vs. Frankenstein-1971). The pace is quite slow. BoG's Score: 4 out of 10
Star Trek TOS Actor Alert: Bolder had a role in the episode Friday's Child, as one of the big, tall natives on an alien planet
