Fisher enters fray
I hadn't been following this and so only became aware of it earlier today, but Carrie Fisher (a.k.a. Princess Leia) shot back at Shatner's comments and began a feud; it's Shatner vs. Fisher or Kirk vs. Leia! (personally, I think a lot of this is for show - a chance for those two to be in the limelight for a while).
Now, George Takei has chimed in as peacemaker... (Takei is from the Star Trek universe, a.k.a. Sulu)... but he has chosen to attack the Twilight film franchise as a way to bring harmony to the galaxy You can read about it here and there's also an amusing video compiling the whole feud up to now: http://social.entertainment.msn.com/movies/blogs/twilight-blog.aspx?feat=90e4ae12-52b7-4e82-b339-b2f9d5c9fbc5>1=28101
Here are excerpts: Aww, Mr. Sulu, say it ain't so.
George Takei -- the film and television actor best known as "Mr. Sulu" from the 'Star Trek' series, currently a social media impresario, and now the self-appointed broker of Star Peace -- has done the unthinkable: smacking down 'Twilight.'
In an attempt to end the ridiculous 'Star Wars' vs. 'Star Trek' feud that William Shatner and Carrie Fisher have been escalating, Takei pleads for Star Peace, stating that the "new ominous threat to science fiction" is 'Twilight':

Gone is any sense of heroism, camaraderie or epic battles. In its place, we have vampires that sparkle, moan and go to high school. Now, I'm not above mixing in a little sex appeal to spice up the fantasy, but sci-fi fans be warned, there are no great stories, characters or profound life lessons to be found in Twilight. Nooo…In Twilight, the only message that rings through loud and clear is: 'Does my boyfriend like me?'
