Do not underestimate the gigantic buzzard with its giant claw - that seems to be the primary message of this extraordinary film. In the first half of the film, the giant shape is disregarded; then, even when it's determined that this giant bird-thing exists, the military (led by Morris Ankrum) think a few well-placed shots from the Air Force will put it down like some lame cousin of Rodan. Morris, Morris... what are we gonna do with ya?
This thing has an anti-matter shield around it! Not even Godzilla's radioactive breath would pierce it - I'm fairly sure. Do NOT underestimate this bird! Now, you'll note on the poster below, it mentions it's from 17,000,000 B.C. - where did THAT come from? In the film, they theorize it's from outer space..blah-blah-blah. No, no, no. This thing is extra-dimensional, see? It's from a place with different physical laws & different laws of physics; THAT is the only explanation!
This one is right up there with Plan 9 From Outer Space and Robot Monster, yes. Almost. It IS better than Attack of the 50-foot Woman. BoG's Score: 3 out of 10. It was recently made available on the 4-film DVD set of Sam Katzman semi-classics, such as Creature With the Atom Brain and The Werewolf. Katzman was a producer. Oh, yeah, and, ah, Jeff Morrow kind of looks like Rod Taylor's less handsome, older brother. And, Mara was a playmate? So I hear.
