episode #07, segment 1: Teacher's Aide
#7a: TEACHER'S AIDE -written by Steven Barnes; Directed by B.W.L.Norton
The new female teacher (Adrienne Barbeau) at a high school has to contend with the teen gangs and, for whatever reason, she gets possessed by a gargoyle figurine. This endows her with superior strength, which she can use to intimidate/beat up the unruly students. But, as the possession continues, she also begins to turn monstrous.
This segment benefits from Barbeau's presence, then recently a starring figure in such films as Swamp Thing (1982) and Creepshow, but doesn't really come across like a TZ episode. I didn't really see any point to this, except to try some visceral scares and offer a 'monster-of-the-week' storyline. It's more like a Tales From the Darkside episode.
BoG's Score: 6 out of 10
