Episode #33, segment 1 - Joy Ride

#33a: JOY RIDE (episode #9 of 2nd season)

Two young punks and their girls decide to hotwire an old car and go on a... joyride. The guy whose idea this is (played by Rob Knepper, who had a career upswing about 20 years later on shows like Prison Break) seems to get possessed by a manic spirit and shoots a cop when they're pulled over. Then the chase begins; only, there are hints that they've dropped back to the fifties. Yep, the haunted auto functions like some strange time portal. When one of the kids is shoved out, they land back in the eighties.

This is a short segment at just over 10 minutes and works OK with what it has. It gets quite trippy when there's a reveal in the last couple of minutes, as Fire Dept. personnel get involved in trying to rescue the last kid (Knepper), and we find out what has really been happening. Not a bad little ghost story, maybe recalling the film Christine. BoG's Score: 6.5 out of 10
