Episode #05 - Little Orphan Airplane
Air Date: 2/22/74 writer: Elroy Schwartz Directed by Reza Badiyi
This one had a slight exotic appeal, as Austin parachutes into the middle of Africa somewhere to get some film taken by a pilot (Greg Morris of TV's Mission:Impossible fame) who is presumed dead. The pilot, however, is alive, being sheltered by a couple of nuns. The local military force is naturally hostile and Austin must use all his bionic strength to repair the damaged single-engine airplane, such as hauling an engine around all by his lonesome. The pilot's security clearance shoots up from 5 to 6!
This was an early episode and there was one scene where they didn't resort to the slow-mo to show Austin's super speed; however, it comes off as peculiarly comical. There was also a preoccupation with TV actor Dale Robertson for some reason; one of the nuns is his biggest fan - his TV show was Tales of Wells Fargo I think. BoG's Score: 6 out of 10
