As our monster adventure begins we see a bit of footage from an earlier black and white monster adventure where the great monster Gamera is captured and put in a giant rocket ship bound for the planet Mars. Then we meet our hero and a handful of men who are headed to New Guinea to recover a giant opal jewel that one of the men hid in a cave on the island during the war. One of the men on the expedition is a bad guy . . . Onodera will try to kill the rest of the men and return to Japan as the sole owner of the giant precious jewel. What he doesn't know is that the giant opal is actually the egg of a monster that can kill by emitting a death-ray rainbow. Would it be giving away too much if I thought aloud that it would be great cinema and poetic justice if this fellow would be chewed and swallowed by the monster like a crunchy canapé?
