GHOST TOWN - episode #2 / production #14 / Air Date: 9/29/68
teleplay by Gil Ralsoton, William Welch; story by Anthony Wilson; Directed by Nathan Juran
This was the 2nd episode to air but was the 14th produced. I think this one was selected to air after the pilot because it's the most entertaining of the early batch of episodes. It recalls, as one example, the classic Twilight Zone episode, Stopover in a Quiet Town. After encountering a force field which killed a giant tramp, the group find themselves in an empty town. The thing is - it's an Earth-sized town and the first thought some of them have is that they have somehow made it back home.
Of course, they haven't. The town is the product of a giant old crackpot inventor. This references a ship from Earth crashing in the past, in which all the little people had been killed; there were photos of Earth in the ship and the old guy based the town on these. The main problem for the little group is the old guy's granddaughter - she's a sadistic little, er, giant monster who enjoys tormenting the little ones in various ways. Fun, fun, fun, eh, kids? BoG's Score: 6.5 out of 10
Land of Quotes - Valerie: "Even God would be lonely in a place like this."
