episode #10 - Double Cross
DOUBLE-CROSS episode #10 / production #12 / Air Date: 12/8/68
written by Bob & Esther Mitchell; Directed by Harry Harris
Fitzhugh is even a worse pain to the group than usual in this episode - he's captured by a couple of giant thieves but gains amnesia in the process. As a result, he reverts to his old ways - he used to be a real criminal-type and soon begins to enjoy planning a robbery with the two giants. Then, most of the other little people are captured by the giant thieves; at this point, Fitzhugh is throwing his weight around, threatening his former friends, even the boy. The most amusing moment, though, is when Fitzhugh issues orders to the more dim giant thief.
This has more interesting scenes than usual because Fitzhugh behaves in a genuinely sinister manner here - he's still something of a clown but it's not over the top as in the usual episode. The robbery itself tries to mine some suspense but, as usual, comes off as on the slow side. The climactic action, though, is pretty good. One of the giant thieves, btw, has a hook for a hand - kind of hokey. BoG's Score: 6 out of 10
Giant Threat: a cat again (there was one in the pilot, or is it the same one?)
