#19b: DEAD RUN - written by Greg Bear, Alan Brennert; Directed by Paul Tucker

A down-on-his-luck trucker (Steve Railsback from Lifeforce) gets a new job - ferrying new souls to hell. It turns out, hell is wracked with bureaucracy just like our world and some souls do not belong there. The trucker is placed in the position of being discretionary in his choices of who goes on. It's interesting but a little slow in spots. Star Trek actor alert: watch for John de Lancie (Q on TNG) and Brent Spiner (Data in TNG) in early roles. BoG's Score: 6 out of 10

As an additional note, this was one of the later episodes which targeted conservatism, specifically the religious right and their sometimes strict morality. This particular episode ended up with a strange message - that this strict moral sense did indeed extend into the after life, even as the point of the story was to condemn this unwavering, narrow train of thought. Live and let live, eh?
