I suppose that this lighthearted spoof was produced in hopes of cashing in on the post-Star Wars science fiction craze. It's got a bunch of obvious Star Wars references, a touch of Star Trek, a touch of 2001. But the story, characters, visuals, dialogue, you name it, are exceedingly dull. The main interest is Galaxina herself in her skin-tight body-suit, on screen about a third of the time. A striking blonde, Stratten was Playmate of the Month for August 1979, and Playmate of the Year for 1980. Sadly, Stratten was murdered shortly after this film was made; her story is told in Star 80 (with Mariel Hemingway, 1983). The second interest is the fat wisecracking captain who laughs at his own silly jokes. A few of his one-liners are pretty funny. But out of 83 total minutes of film, there are perhaps 10 minutes worth watching. For a good movie of this type check out Dark Star or Starcrash. If you want nudity check out Space Thing or Flesh Gordon.
