#51: Sanctuary Earth
Air Date: 02/11/78 written by Rudolph Morchert Directed by Ernest Pintoff
Another visit to Earth by an alien - in this case it's a young teen princess named Aura (Helen Hunt in an early role). She hitches a ride on one of our satellites after her ship becomes disabled due to sun flares. She's able to do this by compressing herself to tiny size, one of her wild powers - she calls in "Condensation" - though not many other abilities are revealed, except that she can learn a new language in a matter of minutes. Jaime gets to her before the rest of OSI because she detected her heartbeat and gives her shelter in her home. Aura reveals the lengthy backstory - her planet is at war with another planet; her parents sent her away for her safety. However, two clone agents (twin singers Jim & Jon Hager) from the enemy planet arrive on Earth with their fancy little weapons, intent on abducting her.
This was a fun if slightly goofy episode, tailored for young sci-fi fans. Jaime and Aura quickly bond, showing each other their special abilities. Then we get to see them and Max, Jaime's bionic dog, team up against the two hostile aliens. I suppose, due to budget limitations and to appeal to a certain young crowd, the aliens in such episodes are shown to be identical to Earthlings, without even any minor prosthesis. BoG's Score: 6.5 out of 10
