The Six Million Dollar Man - Wine, Women and War (2nd telefilm)
Air Date: 10/20/73 written by Glen A. Larson Directed by Russ Mayberry
This was the 2nd telefilm starring Lee Majors as Steve Austin, the bionic man, following the pilot film which aired in March, 1973. There was some retconning here - it was the 1st appearance of Oscar Goldman (Richard Anderson), who replaces the character of Oliver Spencer (played by Darren McGavin in the pilot) and OSI - the Office of Scientific Intelligence (OSO in the pilot). In the flashback-like introductory scenes here, it's made to look like Anderson as Goldman was present before and during the fateful operation which transformed Austin. Also, Alan Oppenheimer takes over the role of Dr. Rudy Wells from Martin Balsam.
Bionic Trivia: as with the other two Six Million Dollar Man telefilms, this was converted into a 2-part episode for syndication; there were added scenes, including stock footage from Colossus:The Forbin Project (1970) of a huge computer bank (meant to represent OSI headquarters); by coincidence, that film starred Eric Braedon!
