episode #26 - Lost Love
episode #13 of 2nd season / Air Date: 1/17/75 written by Mel & Tom Levy Directed by Arnold Laven
Austin reconnects with a past love (Linda Marsh) in this one. They knew each other 7 years ago, when Austin first began astronaut training. Since such training takes up all of one's time, the lady felt neglected and married an older scientist (Jeff Corey). As evidenced at the beginning here, Austin never really got over her and, learning that her husband died a few months ago, it looks to him like they can just take up from where they ended years back. But, is her husband actually dead..?
This ends up as a tale of subterfuge, sinister henchmen and secret formulas, as Austin and his lady friend travel to a foreign embassy on the heels of some revelations. It's all low key and not very exciting. It does have a realistic conclusion - no convenient deaths to wrap things up neatly - just a reality check for Austin as happens in real life. This came across as Austin's most serious female relationship - up until Jaime Sommers makes the scene, that is. BoG's Score: 5.5 out of 10
Star Trek TOS actor alert: Corey appeared in The Cloud Minders; Joseph Ruskin also shows up here as the main heavy; he was in The Gamesters of Triskelion and appeared in the 1st season 6MDM episode, Operation Firefly, as a similar heavy.
