episode #17 -The Road to Nashville
episode #4 of 2nd season / Air Date: 10/20/76 written by James D. Parriott Directed by Alan J. Levi
Easy to figure where this one goes by the title: Jaime pretends to be an aspiring country singer when she is sent in to find out if famous country singer Buck Buckley (real country singer Hoyt Axton) is involved in passing top secret codes via his music. Much of the plot figures around Buck's special recording studio, which has more security than some prisons (Buck is guarded against someone stealing his tunes). As we might expect, Buck's support group - namely his honey (Fionnuola Flanagan) and his manager - begin to look more suspicious to Jaime. Buck is mostly about his music, but also feels he owes his woman, who got him out of the gutter a couple of years earlier. Doc Severinson also plays Jaime's assist and another singer. This was a rather tacky episode, grafting on the Nashville background, but Axton always had a good presence. BoG's Score: 5.5 out of 10
