Barb Wire (1996)
Based on a Dark Horse comic book created several years before, this takes place in the city of Steel Harbor in the year 2017. The USA is in civil war and this city is the last free city - whatever that means (since it's not a very pleasant place, I can just imagine what other cities are like). The title character (Pamela Anderson) owns a local bar and also makes money as a bounty hunter. Things get even more dicey for her with the arrival of an on-the-run female scientist who has crucial information about a new bio-weapon. Barb's old boyfriend (Temuera Morrison) also shows up. It boils down to rebel forces eluding the gestapo-like forces led by Steve Railsback, with Barb in perpetual scowl as the hardass dame caught in-between.
Most of the film betrays its low budget and is little more than one of those SciFi Channel (then SyFy) movies spat out in rapid succession since the nineties. It tries for a little elegance and class by being a warped remake of Casablanca (1939), with some gender-reversing in the roles. It was also meant to start Pam on the road to film stardom, but she demonstrates very little range and the film was a box office bust. BoG's Score: 4 out of 10
