Episode #46: The Emissary
THE EMISSARY - episode #20 of 2nd season / Air Date: 6/26/89
written by Richard Manning, Hans Beimler; Directed by Cliff Bole
The Emissary is the half-human/half-Klingon K'Ehleyr (Suzie Plakson), sent to the Enterprise by the unconventional means of being inside a probe to prep everyone for a tricky mission: confront a Klingon ship of which the crew has just awoken from a long cryogenic sleep. The bad part: these Klingons have been asleep for 75 years; when they went to sleep, the Federation and the Klingon Empire had been at war; their first step will be to attack nearby Federation colonies. K'Ehleyr is of the strong opinion that there will be no reasoning with these Klingons and Picard will just have to destroy them. But, Picard asks for other options (he is a.. pacifist).
