The Brain Machine (1977)
Low budget mess that feels like 3 hours to slog through, about 4 test subjects at a think-tank facility which is secretly being monitored by a government agency. A review at Amazon.com sums it up best:
Bindy Sue Frønkünschtein wrote:A group of people are assembled in order to participate in an experiment. It's anyone's guess as to just what the hell this experiment, and this movie are actually about! It has something to do w/ government mind control. Among the test subjects are a preacher played by James Best (THE KILLER SHREWS) and Gerald McRaney (NIGHT OF BLOODY HORROR). Not surprisingly, something goes terribly wrong w/ the experiment resulting in chaos and death. The biggest problem w/ THE BRAIN MACHINE, in addition to its idiotic plot, is its absolute dullness. Most of the movie elapses w/ nothing of any consequence taking place! What could have been a suspenseful sci-fi thriller is instead a dreary, insufferable affair.
BoG's Score: 2 out of 10; Brain Trivia: McRaney became a big TV star several years later in such hit series as Simon & Simon and Major Dad
