Episode #79: Remember Me
REMEMBER ME - episode # 5 of 4th season / Air Date: 10/22/90
written by Lee Sheldon; Directed by Cliff Bole
People on the Enterprise begin disappearing all around Dr. Crusher - is this some cosmic mystery and dilemma? First a guest of hers, an elderly doctor, is not in his assigned cabin; more, there's no record of him coming aboard and then no record of him in Starfleet. Crusher is perplexed and worried - what if the old doc is hurt somewhere? Then, some of her medical staff is gone. Now it seems like a plot - against whom? Next thing we know, a computer check of the total number of crew reveals only 230 aboard, not the expected 1014. At the next check, there are only 114; then Worf is gone, then Wesley... finally, only Dr. Crusher & Picard remain.
The mind-bender here, though: all is perfectly normal to Picard. At the point that only 230 crew members were found on board, the command staff found nothing wrong with that number; only Dr. Crusher thought this was way off. Likewise, Picard sees nothing wrong with just himself & Crusher roaming the galaxy in the huge ship. Then, there was only one...
- Spoiler:
- it's one of Wesley's weird experiments again! Luckily, he would be leaving the ship (and the series) in only a few more episodes, before he could actually destroy the ship.
TNG Trivia: since this was the 79th episode of the series, the TNG series tied the total number of TOS episodes at this point.
