episode #05 - More Tribbles, More Troubles
Air Date: 10/6/73 written by David Gerrold
The sequel to the TOS episode The Trouble With Tribbles, written by David Gerrold again. This time, the tribbles have a tendency to get larger. This duplicates some of the plot of the TOS episode, involving Sherman's Planet, quadrotri-whatever (grain), the Klingon captain Koloth and conman Cyrano Jones (voiced by an uncredited Stanley Adams again). The main difference - no space station; it all takes place in outer space this time, on the Enterprise and a Klingon ship, while the Enterprise is escorting a couple of robot ships to Sherman's Planet.
Almost as funny as the original - even if it lacks live actors to carry the ball, just the voices. BoG's Score:7.5 out of 10
Trek Trivia: this was originally intended as a 3rd season episode of TOS, as Roddenberry promised to Gerrold. But, Roddenberry vacated the producer position over a disagreement with the network and Fred Frieburger took over as producer for the 3rd season; he told Gerrold that he didn't like The Trouble With Tribbles because Star Trek was not a comedy. Five years later, D.C. Fontana finally told Gerrold that his sequel could be done for the animated series.
