episode #13, segment 2: But Can She Type?
#13b: BUT CAN SHE TYPE? written by Alan Brennert; Directed by Shelley Levinson
This was a whimsical take on the 'parallel worlds' sf concept. A secretary (Pam Dawber) on our Earth is not appreciated very well by her boss, despite being very efficient. A copy machine functions as a portal to another Earth; the secretary is unaware that she has been transported to a parallel Earth, but soon gets strange vibes from everyone she meets: on this other Earth, secretaries are held in high regard... very high regard.
This was amusing but also a tantalizing glimpse of an alternate Earth. The reactions of some of the characters when they find out about the secretary's occupation are priceless. Watch for Jonathan Frakes (Riker on TNG) in a small early role. BoG's Score: 7 out of 10
